I'm having some issues with one of the (many) Wordfence installs I admin.
(Related: Props for an OUTSTANDING tool. Really, thank you)

It's a recent addition to this particular site, and install went (seemed to, anyway) without errors, but immediately after the first scan, I received this message:
DataTables warning (table id = 'wfissuesTable_new'): Added data (size undefined) does not match known number of columns (2)
The mail fired off just fine. Examining the table showed no data, despite 47 problems reported (mostly weak user passwords)
Long story short, uninstalled plugin, dropped tables, installed fresh copy of plugin, setup options, saved (NB, in that it went well), ran scan. Same error. (DataTable warning)
On examination table has data (44, I fixed some issues after run 1)

Left it to run, while I think about what's going on. Had a lot of (all) mail-me-when options ticked. This morning went to uncheck some, and notice that the save options spinner does not end. After a couple of minutes, refreshed page to find changes not saved. Clearly other tables are damaged and the "save options" operation is not as well error-trapped as it could be :)

So, the question: Are there known instances of a pre-existing malware infection protecting itself against a new Wordfence install? Mashing the tables seems like a likely target for such a defence effort, yes? Not too stealthy, but...

Or am I just dealing with a set of data that may have been "stepped on" once too many on the past? Solution: Create new duplicate database, import data (risking importing the breaks) and switch the install over?

Any suggestions welcome. Ta.
