I needed to install a new, fresh installation of WP after moving to a new webhost after my sites were decimated at the old host and I have wanted to connect that new installation to the old database (which was unaffacted).
When I have installed with Softaculous, a new database have been created and the website have been visible. But when I edit the wp-config.php to point to the old DB, a blank page with the error "Error establishing a database connection" is shown.
When I try to go to the admin login page, it gives me the same error on a formatted error page. I've checked the database in PHP Admin - so the database server is running (one of the admin error page's suggestions)
I am not a technical person - so I am stumped and desperate trying to get our club's site back online. Please help!
