hackworth on "Too Many Connections? Error establishing a database connection"

I keep having this problem intermittently. There are too many database connections and my host/database throws an error and no one can get to my site.

I know it is not the number of visitors. I have less that 1,000 a month.

I have several plug ins, but in reality I never had this problem before the last 2 months.

I guess it could be some brute force hack attempt.

Anyway, I need it to stop. Help is greatly appreciated.
